Orcus defeated
« on: October 31, 2010, 12:28:05 AM »
So, finally, the party encountered and defeated Orcus. The battle was long, and several players went down (but were revived before the end). Orcus tried to flee, but was denied.

I had fun DM'ing this campaign and am still amazed it lasted 2 and a half years.  I hope the players had as much fun as I did--it was a published adventure path, and involved a bit of railroading--as well as lots of combat but little non-combat stuff.

On to playing in Promiseland Rising.

Brandis realized when he had the Eye of the Old Gods that it did not matter if Orcus won or not in the larger scheme of things. The powers the gods control are greater than the gods themselves. Over time, Kelemvor will become more like his predecessors, or Orcus would have become more like the earlier death gods. Godhood is power, but it is as much power over the one who holds it as power held by the one who holds it (think of The Elementalist in reverse).

Brandis plans to return the the Great Dale to found a new priestly order dedicated to studying the Old Gods and teaching those who can accept the truth about the meaning of the divine.
Admiral Tebbir: No problem. That's only what, four million cubic light-years of space?

Petey: Sure... if you're rounding Pi down to three. Please don't make me add "rounding Pi down to three" to your list of crimes.

Rhiannon contemplates his planar seed for a while, something is missing and he doesn't know what it is.  To find what is missing he needs to travel.  Road trip!
